PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired two times late to seize a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
